The La Pine Library opened its doors in 2000 and has served as an important community hub ever since. This 8,099 square foot building is centrally located and is easily accessible to people who live in the city as well as the outlying areas of southern Deschutes County.
An extensive remodel in 2023 created a more open space that welcomes the community with more meeting and study rooms, an engaging children’s discovery space, and a cozy fireplace and reading area. Public computers give customers access to the internet as well as essential software, and fast, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. The library’s large community meeting room hosts story times and informative presentations.

Learn about the different types of child abuse and signs to recognize.
This is an online program. Registration is required. This program will not be recorded.
We'll discuss what kinds of cases are referred to KIDS Center for evaluations. We'll also talk about different prevention strategies we can do in our daily lives. This presentation is ideal for organizations, businesses, or groups that are interested in learning more about the types of abuse present in our community and what we can do to protect kids and families.
KIDS Center is a medical model Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) providing child abuse evaluations that include a head-to-toe medical exam, child-friendly forensic interview, family advocacy, and mental health services to children and families impacted by abuse. In addition, our services include prevention programs to help teach adults in our community how to better protect children from abuse.
Children are referred for a KIDS Center evaluation by one of four community partners including law enforcement, DHS Child Welfare, medical providers, and licensed mental health professionals. Children and families can engage in KIDS Center advocacy and mental health services without participating in an evaluation. All of KIDS Center services are provided at no cost.

A cowboy circus about animals who fly!
This program is intended for and enjoyable for all ages. All children must be accompanied by a caregiver.
Leapin' Louie uses circus, cowboy tricks, a six-foot unicycle, and lots of comedy to explore all of the wild critters, including us, who fly.
In 400 million years five amazing groups of animals developed flight: insects, pterosaurs, birds, bats, and finally, humans. Only 66 years after the Wright brothers invented the airplane, we landed on the moon. Were moving so fast! Can we leave enough room for our amazing wild ecosystems as we jet into the future?
Leapin' Louie is a master of physical comedy, trick roping, whip cracking, and juggling. He has performed one-person Leapin' Louie shows in 35 different countries around the world, including many tours in Europe, Japan, and Australia.

Discuss Greek Lessons by Kang Han.
Join via Zoom: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/81379121846
*zm*
In a classroom in Seoul, a young woman watches her Greek language teacher at the blackboard. She tries to speak but has lost her voice. Her teacher finds himself drawn to the silent woman, for day by day he is losing his sight. Soon the two discover a deeper pain binds them together. For her, in the space of just a few months, she has lost both her mother and the custody battle for her nine-year-old son. For him, it's the pain of growing up between Korea and Germany, being torn between two cultures and languages, and the fear of losing his independence. Greek Lessons tells the story of two ordinary people brought together at a moment of private anguish-the fading light of a man losing his vision meeting the silence of a woman who has lost her language.
